Course Outline

  1. The role and responsibilities of a first aider.
  2. Assessing an incident.
  3. Manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
  4. Manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally.
  5. Assist a casualty who is choking.
  6. Manage a casualty with external bleeding.
  7. Manage a casualty who is in shock.
  8. Manage a casualty with a minor injury.
  9. Conduct a secondary survey.
  10. Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints.
  11. Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries.
  12. Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries.
  13. Administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds.
  14. Administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury.
  15. Administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning.
  16. Administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis.
  17. Provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness.

Basic Life Support is the type of care that first-responders provide to anyone, who is experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress or an obstructed airway.

At Staff Defence, we insist that each Instructor possesses, as a minimum, a fully-accredited award in education and training, First Aid at Work Level 3 Award, and Conflict Management Level 2. Each Instructor benefits from the full public liability insurance that Staff Defence provides.

The First Aid at Work course is held at our bespoke training venue at:

Pippingford Park Manor, Nutley, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 3HW. Here we can comfortably seat up to 30 Delegates per course.

However, we can be flexible for large groups and for their convenience, we can conduct the training at the client’s location.

This course is assessed through an on-going practical assessment and a final written test.

On successful completion of the First Aid at Work training course, you will receive the following certificate:
