Course Overview

Course is designed for First Aiders to deliver Emergency First Aid to a child or an infant in difficulties.

Performance Objective

  • Will be able to Identify when to deliver Emergency CPR to a child
  • Will be able to administer First Aid to a child in shock, a child with external bleeding, a child who is choking and a child with bites, stings or minor injuries

Course Outline

  1. The role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider.
  2. Assess an emergency situation safely.
  3. Provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally.
  4. Provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally.
  5. Provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking.
  6. Provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding.
  7. Provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock.
  8. Administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries.

Frequently Asked Questions

CPR is used to resuscitate a child, who has stopped breathing or whose heart has stopped beating. On assessment of the child or infant, the procedure includes the administering of chest compressions and rescue breaths.

At Staff Defence, we insist that each Instructor possesses, as a minimum, a fully-accredited award in education and training, First Aid at Work Level 3 Award, and Conflict Management Level 2. Each Instructor benefits from the full public liability insurance that Staff Defence provides.

The Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is held at our bespoke training venue at:

Pippingford Park Manor, Nutley, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 3HW. Here we can comfortably seat up to 30 Delegates per course.

However, we can be flexible for large groups and for their convenience, we can conduct the training at the client’s location.
